What is dental bonding?

 Dental bonding is a technique that changes the shape and the color of the teeth very conservatively, quickly and with minimal intervention of your natural teeth.

The technique aims to the improvement of the anterior teeth esthetics and smile in general.

What is it used for?

 With dental bonding we can close diastemas, improve the shape of small, conical teeth with less than ideal morphology.

We can also improve the look of malpositioned teeth and change tooth color.

Depending on the problem, dental bonding may be used on one tooth or more, resulting in a smile make over.

How is it done?

 At the initial appointment you explain your concerns and discuss your options with the doctors.

If your case is challenging, we may fabricate a cast of your teeth, make the necessary changes on it using wax, while on a second appointment we discuss the proposed treatment plan and make any wax up changes if needed.

When you approve the wax up, we schedule your treatment that is usually finished in one appointment and does not require anesthesia.

If your esthetic concern is minimal we finish the treatment without a wax up, at your first and only appointment.

The materials of choice for bonding are dental composites.

Composites are polymerized chairside, allowing for a quick, easy and economical makeover.

Their disadvantage is, that they tend to change color over time. Depending on the frequency of your recall appointments as well as of habits like smoking, composite resin may need to be changed after a period of 5 to 8 years.
